Wag Canine Recreation Centre has been offering dog daycare in downtown Amherst since 2012. Our experienced staff go through continuing education in dog body language and play styles so that they respond to signals and behaviors before they become situations and are certified in pet first aid.

As per the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals guidelines, we maintain a staff to dog ratio of no more than 1:15 and our generous play area more than meets the minimum recommendation of 75-100 square feet per dog.

Dogs have access to the indoor and outdoor play areas at all times so they can choose where they play and have the ability to go outside and use the bathroom whenever they need to.

Staff supervise the dogs 100% of the time and are dedicated to providing a safe and clean play environment. The indoor area is vacuumed and mopped daily and the outside turf is cleaned and sanitized.

Daily report cards are created for each dog to let you know how much fun they had during their day and to communicate any issues or concerns. We also make daily Facebook posts so you can see them with their friends.

We have a zero tolerance policy for aggressive dogs. The facility is owned by Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) Jennifer Blackman who assesses each daycare candidate as well as evaluates any changes in behavior for our current clients.

Daycare Hours:

Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm

Cost:

Full Day $29.00 + HST

Half Day Mornings(maximum 5 hours) $21.00 + HST

Ask about discounts for prepaid packages and for multiple dogs from the same household.

Drop Off and Pick Up Times:

Drop off by 9:30 am

AM Dogs – Pick up by 2:00 pm or 5 hours, whichever comes first

How to Enroll Your Dog in the Wag Daycare Program

Please note the minimum age for daycare is 12 weeks. All dogs 6 months or older must be spayed or neutered. Dogs must be up to date on core vaccinations (Parvovirus, Distemper, Rabies) as well as Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and proof must be presented. All dogs must be flea and tick free, and are required to wear a quick release collar with no tags.

Step 1
Fill out the online enrollment form. This will take about 10-15 minutes. Please provide as much detail as possible.

Step 2
We will contact you to schedule a social assessment for your dog (please bring their vaccination record with you to the assessment appointment

Step 3
If step 2 goes well, you can schedule your dog for a trial half day of daycare for their first visit.

To ensure we have adequate staffing levels there may be additional fees for cancellations, no shows and after hours pick ups.
